Sneakers

I'm thinking of a song. Written by Sandra Boynton and Michal Ford called Sneakers. Supposedly sung by a bear. Here is the chorus:

"My old sneakers are friends of mine-
You can't trust any shoes that shine!
Some shoes pinch you, some shoes squeak:
The only shoes
that I would choose
Are shoes that sneak!"

Why am I writing this? Well, I'm glad you asked!

I don't like to get rid of stuff- yep, I'm a pack rat. So I've got these sneakers-keds, if you will, that were bought about 3 years ago.  They're...well...something all right.

The song puts it best. Here's verse one-
"Wow, Look at these guys!
There's a toe that is worn,
And the laces are torn
So I've added a section of string.
I'm not really sure
What color they were,
Now they're a little of everything!"

Verse 2:

"They'll try to get you to use
Uncomfortable shoes
When you have to look nice and neat.
But most of the time,
You'll notice that I'm
Keeping these sneakers on my feet!"

"My old sneakers are friends of mine-
You can't trust any shoes that shine!
Some shoes pinch you, some shoes squeak:
The only shoes
that I would choose
Are shoes that sneak!"

So there you have it, folks...

EPILOGUE: I did finally break down and trash them this Spring. ;(

Backseat Club

We have a 2005 Chevy suburban. Those three who sit in the back-backseat, namely, Brianna, Emma and Aedan, have formed a club of sorts. So his evening, I'm watching Ellie in the tub. Emma comes looking for me to ask where Aedan was. She gave me a paper and asked me to read it.

This is what it said (with some major spelling editing):

"In order for a person to join the backseat club you must  be the following:

  • you must be able to sleep in the car.
  • you must be quiet
  • you must be able to draw 'i have no ideas'
  • you must like Get Smart
  • you must sit in the back seat

If all qualifications are filled you must talk to the board.

A Tag from Nana

Nana tagged me with a unique tag. I need to name 12 book/movie characters and then answer some questions. O.K.,here we go!
THE CAST:
  1. Arthur Dent (The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
  2. Miss Piggy (The Muppets)
  3. Eustace Clarence Scrubb (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair & The Last Battle)
  4. Caleb Holt (Fireproof)
  5. Hercule Poirot
  6. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables)
  7. Adelaide (Guys and Dolls)
  8. Frank Gilbreth (Cheaper by the Dozen)
  9. Emma (Emma)
  10. Mr. Bean (Mr. Bean's Holiday, Mr. Bean)
  11. Paddington Bear
  12. Trillian (The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
***********************************************
THE PLOT:
Who would make a better college professor, 6 (Anne Shirley) or 11 (Paddington Bear)?

If it were a culinary school, Paddington. However, this is easy for if you've ever read the "Anne" books, you'd know that she WAS a college professor!

12 (Trillian) sends 8 (Frank Gilbreth) out on a mission. What is it? Does it succeed?

Of course it would. Whatever Frank Gilbreth puts his mind to,  succeeds greatly-and in 9.6 seconds, too!

What is or would be 9(Emma)'s  favorite book?

Matchmaking Made Easy, How to Get Your Friend to Wed In Only 30 Days!, or The Best Kept Secrets of Matchmaking.

For some reason, 5 (Hercule Poirot) is looking for a roommate. Should (s)he share a studio apartment with 9 (Emma) or 10 (Mr. Bean)?

I don't think it would be right for Poirot to share a room with Emma, so I'd say Mr.Bean, even though his comical stupidity and uncultured demeanor, would drive Poirot absolutely insane! Besides, wouldn't he rather have Captain Hastings with him?

2 (Miss Piggy), 7 (Adelaide) , and 12 (Trillian) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

Trillian would discuss all the cool stuff on the Heart Of Gold (the space ship), Adelaide would discuss her psychosomatic tendencies, and Miss Piggy would want to discuss her hair, dress, shoes, jewels and her frog.

3 (Eustace)challenges 10 (Mr. Bean) to a duel. What happens?

Fortunately, Eustace is smarter than that. However, it might go something like this:
Scrubb and Bean strapped their swords to their sides and drew them out. (Here we see Mr.Bean struggling fruitlessly to draw his blade.) The metal gleamed in the dazzling sunlight. Lord Eustace steps to the ring and awaits the arrival of his foe. 2HOURS LATER: Eustace sat down to await the impeding arrival of Mr.Bean. 2 HOURS AFTER THAT: Mr. Bean could be seen about 10 feet from the ring! 2HOURS AFTER THE LAST 2HOURS: The chain mail slowed him down, But Mr. Bean has finally arrived!! Lord Eustace stood to greet him. They exchanged formalities and then Scrubb re-drew his sword to meet the enemy. (Here we see Mr. Bean pulling, tugging and yanking at his sword.) Bean falls down exhausted from his long tiring walk and the effort to draw his sword! As he falls to the ground the sword loosens and slides across the arena floor. Lord Eustace in complete frustration, stomps out of the arena. THE END.

If 1 (Arthur Dent) stole 8(Frank Gilbreth)'s most precious possession, how would she/he get it back?

All he'd have to do  is ask! Arthur most likely didn't steal it, but picked it up in distraction and would wonder why he had it as soon as he came to himself!

What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 (Caleb Holt )and 1(Arthur Dent)  to work together?

This is certainly a more tricky one. Um...Well, they're both trying to "get the girl" however, Caleb is on the Love Dare, and so maybe he could give Arthur some pointers. Let's see. Oh, I know!

Caleb, for day 25 has to take his wife on a trip. So they go to England where they meet this nice girl, Trisha McMillan and her distracted friend in a bathrobe, Arthur Dent. Trisha gets separated from them in the rush to get off of earth when the Vogons are going to destroy it to make an intergalactic bypass. Arthur's house was demolished that very morning-thus the bathrobe. when he questioned "Why?" The foreman told him, "It's a BYPASS! You've got to build BYPASSES!!"  So he stopped questioning. Caleb and Catherine hitch a ride with the 2nd most intelligent creature on planet Earth, a dolphin, just as he was evacuating. They get onto a pleasant little island with a small beach and lots of Small Furry Creatures from Alpha-Centuri (direct quote). Arthur is trying to find Trisha, and can't. Just in time, Ford, Arthur's alien (though Arthur didn't know it at the time) friend, hitches a ride in a ship of the Vogon Constructor fleet. They are tortured with Vogon poetry and thrown from the ship!

Hmm, I just realized that my two main men are carrying books!

But I won't spoil it for you! Read the book to find out what happened to Trisha. Ford, and Arthur!

If 7(Adelaide) visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

I really don't know this one! We both love singing, so we might get along!

If you could command 1(Arthur Dent) to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?

To get me a copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11(Paddington Bear)?

Umm, I don't understand this question. If you are asking, Do any of the people on my lsit write or draw, Yes. Anne and Mr. Gilbreth write, though very different genres, and Mr. Bean draws, (as far as I know, though, only in Mr.Bean the movie. However this movie was a bit offensive and I wouldn't recommend it. Mr.Bean's Holiday,on the other hand is good clean fun and everyone will love it! )

If 2(Miss Piggy) had to choose sides between 4 (Caleb Holt) and 5 (Hercule Poirot) , which would it be?

Whichever could flatter and cater to her more!

What might 10 (Mr. Bean) shout while charging into battle?

"Gracias." (See Mr. Bean's holiday.)

If you chose a song to represent 8(Frank Gilbreth), which song would you choose?

Is there a song about a place for everything, and everything in it's place?

1 (Arthur Dent), 6(Anne Shirley) , and 12(Trillian) are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?

Arthur is a gentleman and would let the ladies have it. Anne is a lady and would offer it to Trillian. Trillian would definately have fought for it.

What might be a good pick-up line for 2(Miss Piggy) to use on 10 (Mr. Bean)?

"Move over, dummy!"

What would 5(Hercule Poirot) most likely be arrested for?

Snooping in other people's business without authority. But since he knows Inspector Jap of Scotland Yard, he shouldn't have that problem.

What is 6(Anne Shirley)'s secret?

She hates her red hair, but hat's no secret. Brianna says she talks to much to have a secret!!

If 11(Paddington Bear) and 9(Emma) were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Emma. Paddington would stop half-way to make a marmalade sandwich snack.

If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7(Adelaide) or 8(Frank Gilbreth)?

Adelaide would draw the attention of people we don't want around (She was engaged to a gambler). I think I'd want Frank Gilbreth around mostly because he always knows what to do!

Well, I tag, Warrior Maiden, Lucie,  and my Mama!
