a sense of humor like no other!!

Who will YOU be?

You can take these online quiz to see what old-time actor and/or actress you would be. Click on your choice of quiz to take them.
actor My result on what classic actress I would be: Carole Lombard
I scored 21% grit, 10% wit, 43% flair, and 38% class!

You're a little bit of a fruitcake, but you always act out in style. You have a good sense of humor, are game for almost anything, but you like to have nice things about you and are attracted to the high life. You're stylish and modern, but you've got a few rough edges that keep you from attaining true sophistication. Your leading men include William Powell, Fredric March, and Clark Gable. Watch out for small planes. My result for the classic actor quiz: Cary Grant I scored 24% Tough, 10% Roguish, 33% Friendly, and 33% Charming!

You are the epitome of charm and style, the smooth operator who steals the show with your sophisticated wit, quiet confidence and flirty sense of humor. You are able to catch any woman you want just by flashing that disarming smile, even if you're flashing it at a kindly aunt or engaging child at the time. When you walk into a room, women are instantly intrigued and even the men are impressed, but you're too nice a guy to steal anyone else's girl...unless the guy deserves it. You're stylish, yes, but you can also be a little bit nutty. However, you're primarily seen as dashing, suave and romantic. Your co-stars include Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly, stylish women with a sense of fun.

Report: Day 3 of Operation: Survive While Mom's Away

Alright. We are halfway done day four and need report to Mama about what's happened here at Fort Wachter. (You blogger friends are just along for the ride :} ) Mama, Pa said since he wasn't here, but rather in VA for day 3, that I would have to write about it. I must say... it was the first time I'd been commanded to blog :].
We all devoured your note before even eating our breakfast and little faces lit up in the excitement of new stickers! Note the too-cute expression on Ellie's face... she loved hers, too.
Here is everyone with their daily countdown til you come home bags:
(Brianna figured out how to use the self timer on my camera)
Today we had a day of fun and no more than the typical chaos. Ellie wasn't quite sure what to make of a full day without either parent... but she was alright when she saw Poppop! She liked her apple for breakfast,
and was excited to have her twizzler of the day from her candy-countdown-til-momma-comes-home-bag.
After breakfast and circle time, we had playtime. Due to rain outside, we held it downstairs. Brianna lead with football drills and our modified "death crawl".
Nathaniel: Quarterback
(I accidentally rotated this picture the wrong way-doesn't it look like he's walking up the wall?)
Line-Backer Aedan
Emma, Kicker/defencive linewoman (is that a real word?)
The Team
Ellie found amusement during afternoon school time and before the boys were awake...

under the ever-watchful eye of Nana of course!! Nana, not my sister, but the one dubbed "Mrs. Poppop", by Pa, came over about 2 o'clock to help, bearing salad, oreos, and apple cider. The kids show off their school awards to Nana.

Ellie liked the oreos. We limited everyone to 3.

"KK, more yummmm pleeeeeese, please!!"

The roses Pa gave you last Thursday are blooming beautifully!

ABC's of Me

Brianna tagged me, so here it is!

Do you like to write?

Yes. I mostly like writing poetry. But I also like writing fiction, though what I have is NOT of printing quality.

Favorite books?

Narnia, Bible, Fairy Tales (Grimm's, Hans Christian Andersson), old mysteries (Poirot, sherlock holmes) Anne of Green Gables, anything by Louisa May Alcott.

Do you compose music/write songs?

I've written many song lyrics. As for music, I have, but not since I was 9...

Do you like poetry?

YES, YES, YES!!!! I especially like Rudyard Kipling and, sorry Aunt Di, Robert Frost. A Midsummer Night's Dream is really good, too.

Love someone so much who made you cry?

I don't think I quite understand this question. Any ideas? Please leave me a comment...

Broken a bone?

Nope, fortunately, I escaped that one!!!

Been in a police car?

You heard about the time I was put in jail for armed robbery, didn't you ;)- it was there I learned how to lose at spades...;)

Been on a boat?

Let's see... 3 close family members in the U.S.Navy, plus 3 trips to Disney with at least 2 ferry trips each, plus a trip to Seaport in CA, plus a trip to a Navy base in Norfolk, VA...

Fallen asleep in school?

Never, shame on me if I had!!!

Did you sing today?

An easier question for me would be when am I NOT singing!!! I am always singing! Even when I'm not, I usually have a song in my head. And, thanks to God and His amazing Grace, I always have a song in my heart! My cousin said he believed I had a song for every situation!!

KFC, Popeyes, or Church's?

Never had Church's, and I can't stand KFC. Popeye's holds a special place in family tradition, though. When we moved into a townhome (when I was 5) though we had no furniture, we celebrated our first meal in our new house with Popeyes chicken and biscuts, mac and cheese and a bottle of sparkling apple cider. When I was 11, we moved into our current home (a rancher) and repeated this tradition.

Chick-fil-a or What-a-burger?

I've never had What-a-burger, But the whole family LOVES Chick-fil-a. If you haven't ever had their Honey Roasted BBQ than you, my friend, are seriously missing out!!!

Starbucks of McCafe?

According to Dr.Kent Hovind, "If you drink coffee, your children will be born naked and illiterate!"

What's your favorite time of year?

Spring: because life is new Summer: with it's bright sun light Fall: with frost and morning dew Winter: because of snowy-white!

Do you ever talk to yourself?

Talk?! I've been known to hold full conversations with myself! Strange, I know... but tell me what else is new! Hey, I've never been accused of being normal! ;)

Do you have a favorite treat you like to buy on occasion?

Ghiridelli caramel squares.

Do you believe the Bible is the literal Word of God and is infallible?

No doubt in my mind WHATSOEVER!!! I believe that God did tell men what to write without changing their personal writing styles.ex: Peter, an un-educated fisherman, wrote God's Word in simple, everyday words and grammar, while Paul, an extendedly and in-depthly (is that a word?) educated Pharisee (Master on Moses and the Prophets) wrote in a far more advanced style. I believe God's Word is from eternity past to eternity future and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. World without end, Amen and Amen.

What's your favorite sport?

Baseball- because it's the only one I understand!!!

What color is your ipod?

Light blue and I keep in in a lime green leather case. I have a third generation nano (the silver-backed square ones).

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Anywhere and everywhere, but especially Europe. And Israel.

If you could go to any fictional place, where would you go?

Narnia, Telmar, Colorman, the 7 Isles, the Lone Islands, All the way to Ramandu's Island, Aslan's country. (Only those who have read Narnia will understand any of this!!!)

Do you love to write or do you just like writing? Or do you write at all?

I just like writing, but I love writing poems.

What do you want to be when you’re a grown up?

Whatever God has planned...

Favorite animal?

Cats, all cats any cats, from domestic to a Begal Tiger!

Favorite song?

See the question "Did you sing today"

Do you like school?

"Oh, I'm ALL about this." Guess the movie this quote is from to win brownie points!! Mom and nana- you don't count...:)

Are you a people person because I’m getting the idea that you are?

YES.

Do you like to talk?

I've been told so, yes.

Favorite food?

I'll eat anything but snails, neck and organs. Oh, and blood sausage!

Hobbies?

Narnia, poetry, reading, sewing, piano.

Favorite author?

C.S.Lewis, Agatha Christie, God, Kipling, L.M.Montgomery, Louisa May Alcott

Favorite weapon?

Bow and arrows. these can be strong and feminine. And I don't only like them because Susan has one. They remind me of the verse in the Bible (it escapes me just now where it is: I think Proverbs?.) it says, and I am paraphrasing here, that children are like arrows in the hand of a strong man. Blessed and happy is he who has his quiver full.

Is this a fun tag or are you getting bored?

Fun. (yawn) ;)
Do you like Hannah Montana and all those girly people and movies like Highschool Musical?

Absolutely NO. I am opposed to any so-called role model who dresses like a, please forgive my language, a harlot. I am sorry if you do like those people; but I believe as a Christian it is my duty to speak out against evil symbols being raised up for our little ones to follow.

What are you scared of?

Failure, but not much else. Oh, and spiders, but only big ones.

Favorite flower?

Irises or tulips or sedums.

What is the expression on your face?

Normal "I'm staring at my computer" blank expression.

Color of your eyes?

I've had people call them blue and others say that they were green. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

In order to keep the fun going, I'll tag: Lizzie and Jo!

Back in Blogland!!

It feels soooo good to be home!!!!
Vacation was, as usual, a piece of heaven so it will be hard to get used to a regular schedule again. we're heading back out the door to visit a dear friend in Ohio tomorrow. And when we get back we will begin school, then Mom leaves for Italy! When mom returns, we'll have two days until Thanksgiving and then comes Christmas, New Year's and Pa's and Nathaniel's Birthdays!!!!!! After all that, the time will thin out a bit. So, thanks for reading I'll see you all in March!! ;) Just kidding, I may be able to fit in some blogging in early November, right before Mom leave and after we get back from Ohio and settled. Maybe mind you... :) :) :)
I had a nice surprise waiting when we came home. My costume won a 2nd place ribbon at our county fair!
Now, I have question to ask my readers, merely out of curiosity. I'm going to place here a picture of a painting that hangs in our vacation rental house. Please go to my sidebar and tell me what you thinkvia a vote. I won't disclose what I think of it until the time for voting has ended.
Thanks!

Fab Family Friday!

Today I'll talk about my grandmother, Judy. Sweet as can be, Loves the sunshine, Always thinking of others, Loves God, Student of His Word, Promoter of education, A spirit of Love.

9.07.2009

One thing I did this week was... LAST WEEK!

One thing I did this week was sorted through old pictures and found an old TIN-TYPE! Here is a picture of it. And a closer view of her face and bodice. This tin-type we guessed to be from around 1850. We also had to guess at who it was. Our educated deductions lead us to believe that this is my Great-Great-Grandmother, Anna Beatrice O'Brian, after marriage, she tagged on her husband's name, Leonard. Isn't she so beautiful? I love studying my family's heritage! It's just so facinating to learn about all the history. Who did what, who married who, who gave birth to who, and my favorite, so, how are they related to us? :) I'll try to post more old pictures as I come to them!

Not Me Monday

Usually, I don't do the Not me Mondays. But, over time I have NOT comprise a list of things that I did not do. I did not drink out of the same cup as the baby, after she'd been eating slices of bread. And I did not point out to mom that little pieces of bread and crumbs were not floating in the water. And I didn't say that it would be all right, as long as I rinsed it out first. I most positively would not pick up my brother, in his play clothes and toss him into the above ground swimming pool. I certainly did not laugh when he surfaced and realized I had not put in the ladder so he couldn't get out without asking me. and I did not see the whole family gathered round. Some were not watching at the windows and some were not standing next to me. And they were not laughing, too. We wouldn't be very nice to do that, would we? Nope Not Me!

What do they think?

I've thought about this... do the actors of Narnia really get what they are representing? I like the way Lucie Manette put it in this post: Read it here!

In comment to her post, did they realize that all reigning equally under Aslan pictures when we will all rule equally under Christ in the Millennial reign. Also, we as children of God are royalty-after all He is the King of kings and LORD of lords!

Furthermore, did they realize that each of them represent a different kind of Christian Life?

Peter The Magnificent represents the victorious christian.

Susan the Gentle represents the sometimes doubtful, always"safe" one who falls away in time of trouble or doubt.

Edmund the Just represents the one who was forgiven much and so loves much, and is always after faithful.
Lucy the Valiant represents (As Lucie pointed out) the ever faithful one with childlike faith, the faith we all are to have and so many times fail so utterly.

Lastly, did the director, Andrew Adamson, realize all he was telling them to do? He so vibrantly captures so much and yet is CLUELESS!

Sad, but true...
